Our Non-Invasive Cardiology Services

  • At Southern Mississippi Heart Center, our blood panels test factors such as cholesterol, liver/basic metabolic, coumadin clinic (PT/INR), and many more.

  • Cardioversion is a medical procedure that uses quick, low-energy shocks to restore a regular heart rhythm. It treats certain irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias), including atrial fibrillation (A-fib). Sometimes cardioversion is done using medications.

  • Cholesterol checks are used to diagnose and monitor the treatment of high cholesterol. A trained technician takes blood samples to analyze "good" and "bad" cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

  • Chronic Care Management is a service provided by your physician in which your health conditions are proactively monitored. This helps keep you healthier and out of the hospital longer.

  • An electrocardiogram is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat.

  • An echocardiogram is an ultrasound test that checks the structure and function of your heart.

    · A Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) is when a doctor puts a tube down your esophagus with an ultrasound device that takes a series of moving pictures of your heart.

  • A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that records the heart's rhythm. It detects or determines the risk of irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). An Event monitor is a wearable device that records the electrical activity of your heart periodically for up to 1- 3 weeks.

  • A MUGA scan is a nuclear medicine test that shows how much blood your heart pumps with each heartbeat.

  • A nuclear stress test at Southern Mississippi Heart Center is a minimally invasive diagnostic imaging procedure designed to evaluate blood perfusion through the coronary arteries to the heart muscle.

  • An RPM is technology to enable remote monitoring of patients in the home for blood pressure and heart rate.

  • A stress echocardiogram is an ultrasound conducted to see how your heart works under stress.

  • Using sound waves, a vascular ultrasound exam looks at the blood flow in a patient’s veins and arteries.
